Links Concerning the Today's New International Version Translation of the Bible

Published by Zondervan, the Today's New International Version (Today's NIV, or TNIV) translation of the Holy Bible has spawned many questions and concerns. Are they valid, or are they straw men?

The following links are provided in an effort for you to determine the answers for yourself. I want to be as even-handed as possible in the presentation of arguments and defenses, but realize that there are more links below for arguments against the TNIV than for it. Don't let the number of links decide the case for you. READ and find out for yourself.

And give me some feedback! You can use the guest book or e-mail me at bro_brett@bellsouth.net.

Thanks!

The TNIV Discussion Sites

Zondervan's official TNIV site, this link gets you to the home page. Here you can find links to many articles and defenses (both their own, and from others) in support of the TNIV Bible.

Citing approximately 350 examples, this Reformed Evangelical site compares the TNIV verse-by-verse with other prominent translations, and provides discussion, as well.

A good question. The pastor-author owner of this site, Mark D. Roberts, attempts to answer that question.

This is an evaluation of the TNIV from a professor at Westminster Theological Seminary.

Issues with gender-neutral passages in the TNIV. Written by a self-proclaimed Conservative Reformed Baptist.

From the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, this article explores their concerns. The first 2 lines of the article read, "We have included here a list of 3,686 translation inaccuracies in the TNIV which you can check for yourself (2,776 in the Old Testament and 910 in the New Testament). There is also a chart at the end with a summary of inaccuracies by category."

Short comments from readers who love the TNIV.

More TNIV Articles

Co-authored by Wayne Grudem (I name I trust), "The Gender-Neutral Bible Controversy" is a 357-page Adobe file published by Broadman & Holman.

The TNIV website's response to the Grudem article above. This is also in Adobe .pdf format. If you do not have the FREE Adobe Reader, you can download it with the link just below.

Free (no catch) and useful for reading thousands of downloadable documents, the Adobe Reader can be downloaded here. You'll need it in order to read the above 2 files.

The text of a debate between the authors of the articles in this column. It also is PDF format. When you click this link, it will immediately ask you if you want to open, save, or cancel. "Open" causes it to open in an internet window, while "Save" saves a copy to your computer. Cancel obviously cancels.
